Hillsborough Art Society was formed in 1988 by a group of artists from Hillsborough, Co Down and the surrounding area. The club has grown over the years and the membership has now increased to include artists from further afield

In Hillsborough Art Society, we cater for a wide range of interests. These range from those who simply love and appreciate art produced by others, to members who draw and paint in a variety of mediums. Other members have their own specialities, including textiles, sculpture and ceramics.

Our monthly meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month in the Hillsborough Village Centre and feature demonstrations by well known visiting artists. Those interested in learning more about our group are most welcome to attend those meetings, and our membership is open to new applicants.

Details of the monthly meetings can be seen on the next page.

Throughout the season we plan Gallery and studio visits, and workshops for club members

Work produced by our members is exhibited at the annual club exhibition. The most recent exhibition, our 36th, was held in the Hillsborough Village Centre from Friday 24th to Monday 27th May 2024 and was well attended by visitors. The display included pottery and over 100 paintings, and many were purchased by those who admired the standard of work produced by our members.

In co-operation with Downshire Primary School, and with the assistance of  Lisburn

and Castlereagh Council, Hillsborough Art Society organised an art competition for the pupils of the school. A selection of the winning paintings was placed on display in the foyer of the school, running at the same time as our exhibition. The final winners were presented with their prizes at a school assembly.
